Hill's Science Plan - Medium Chicken Puppy Food Review (AD)

Those who have been following on social media for a while will know we got Cassie, our medium-sized mixed breed puppy, over 4 months ago now. As first time dog owners, we didn't really know what to expect when it came to buying the various things she needed, and so naturally we went a bit over the top. We wanted the best of everything for her, and one of the things that was really important to us was that she was on an excellent quality brand of food.

We were delighted when we contacted the breeder, who told us that she had decided to wean her on to Hill's Science Plan puppy food, in order to give her the best start in life. After doing some of my own research I was really pleased with what I found, and the reviews I came across myself from various different websites were nothing but positive, and so we decided to buy it for ourselves for when we brought her home, instead of switching her to something else.

In my opinion, this was the best decision we made. Almost everybody who meets Cassie tells us how beautiful her thick black shiny coat is, and how healthy and lean she looks. When we had taken her to the vets for the first time, they also complimented her coat, asked me what brand she was eating and agreed that it was one of the best foods available currently.

Hill's food is on the pricier side, however I truly believe with dog food you do get what you pay for in terms of nutrition and quality. We actually buy the larger bags ourselves (12-15kg) as it lasts a while and works out cheaper long-term. After her first injections, she was off of her food for quite a while and we panicked and bought some different cheaper brands to see if it was an issue with her or the food, but she would not entertain anything else, no matter what we did or mixed it with. As soon as she perked back up she began wolfing down the Hill's again, still refusing to try anything else, and so we donated the other bags and stuck to what she already knew.

In comparison to the other brands we had bought, we also noticed that the Hill's Science Plan Puppy Food is softer with a more 'meaty' appearance (as above) than the traditional crunchy biscuits that other brands seem to provide, and Cassie definitely prefers this when faced with the two. Because of this, they are also really easy to dissolve with hot water in the earlier days, and I believe this is what the breeder was doing for Cassie's litter before their teeth came in.

Another perk of Hill's dry food is that Cassie, bar normal puppy behaviour, doesn't seem to be overly energetic or excitable which I know can be a con of having dry food with a lot of sugar and cereals in it. Thankfully this food has neither, and has a high meat content and other quality ingredients instead to support growth and digestion. We are yet to encounter an upset stomach and she still loves it as much as she did when we first got her, so in my opinion, that is a bonus.

Lastly, Cassie has tripled in size over the last few months and has never strayed from eating the daily recommended amount advised on the back of the packet. She has grown wonderfully and we know she is the perfect weight for her size, so I would advise following the guide if you do buy this for yourself as it has been really handy for us.

Overall I would definitely recommend Hill's Science Plan to anybody with a dog, as we truly believe Cassie looks and behaves as great as she does thanks to this food.

As for what Cassie thinks, well...
